Not a country for tea lovers!

Rumirù's cellar |
I am publishing this post very late as for May has been a quite hectic month.
The main event was surely the Fair of handicraft in Cottanello (Rieti province) - village in the middle of Sabina area -- one month ago. The very nice thing is that the Local Association (Pro-loco) promotes the participation to the fair "renting" the exibition space (mainly village cellars and taverns) for free!
But (less nice): being Cottanello a bit off from the main communication roads, it does not attract much visitors from other provinces. Indeed, the people flow was much more related to the food aspect than to the handicraft exibition of the fair!
We were lucky thoug, having a small tavern along the village wall passageway all for Rumirù's creations. And we were lucky to have such sunny, clear, lovely days (today it feels like monsoon season!). But the funny (and slightly depressing) thing is that, I realised Italians are not a population of tea lovers! Rumirù's teacosies, my great news of the season -- were mistaken all the time for coffee-maker cosies! I heard more than a person saying: "oh look at the coffee maker!" (actually, someone confused by the vision of a ceramic handle, also thought the teapots were just mugs!) :)))))

The tea cosies exhibition |
Italians see coffee everywhere. No escape from the tradition!
In the end I (bitterly) realised that - contrary to other European/World countries -- we don't have a tea culture nor we have a tea pot one... no wonder about the tea cosies!
Maybe also for this reason my tea cosy production has slowed a bit. it's not a fall of enthusiasm, I promise. Just the need to re-think my crochet work, and think about objects/projects that can reach everyone beyond the most consolidate traditions! :)
Hello Ms Rumiru
RispondiEliminaI wish I could read Italian, but then pictures tell a thousand words. Look at your lovely tea cosies. And I see two from my little book. AND my book. Thank you thank you. Every single book enjoyed and cosy made makes me smile very wide.
Thank you for your comment at QOTTC
The very best
Loani
